💜💛 God’s main goal for you is not to become HAPPY but to become HOLY! If the Holy Spirit truly lives in you, you will find HAPPINESS in becoming more HOLY. Don’t think for a second that God wants you to do what feels “good” or “natural” to you. He wants you to do what HE has called you to do and a lot of times that means NOT doing what you think you should do! The only way to know how you can become more holy is to read your Bible and see what God has commanded of you. Do not skip over the parts where you feel convicted or guilty; use those feelings to guide you to repentance and into a deeper relationship with God. The Holy Spirit cannot exist in a heart that is chasing after self-gratification. I know I tend to idolize things and let them take the place of God in my life. ———————————————————————— In reality, this is probably my biggest struggle: placing my own desires above what God desires for me; worshipping things that temporarily satisfy over the only thing that can truly satisfy me; letting some created thing take priority over the One who created all things. ——————————————————————— I needed to be reminded of the truth this morning that God is jealous for me. He wants my attention. He wants my worship. He wants my heart. He wants these things because He alone knows what I need. He does not want to punish me like the people who prove their hatred toward Him by allowing something else to steal their attention, worship, and heart.
